Key Aspects of Building

By: Nick Turner

When you talk to many builders, you'll probably hear the words “Standard Features”. It's a document that outlines what products a builder will normally use in their homes. Actually, we used to stress these ourselves. Experience has taught us that a custom home inherently has no standards. So instead of talking about “Standard Features”, I'd rather discuss something I'll call “Key Aspects of Building”.

Key Aspects of Building for Ford Builders:

- Structural Quality - We use products in the framing and foundation of our homes that are the sturdiest and most reliable. A great home requires a great foundation. All clichés aside, we make sure your home is going to be around for decades to come with no change to the structural integrity.

- Low Maintenance/Maintenance Free - Many of our clients are building their retirement home. They don't want to be on ladders painting their home or cleaning their gutters. We use the lowest maintenance materials as possible to avoid those hidden costs associated with a home long after we have completed construction.

- Energy Efficiency - Anyone that watches the news knows we have a looming energy crisis - that will eventually affect us all. We use high efficient insulation (Ask me about our Energy Efficiency System - ), heating and cooling systems, and also high quality windows (THE place where you lose most of your energy)

- Finish Quality - The end look of your home is extremely important to us. We enjoy intricate carpentry work on the interior, a well landscaped lawn for the exterior and high quality finish items for cabinets, countertops and plumbing and lighting fixtures.
